Chinese medicine profession to be nationally registered from 1 July 2012

On 8 May 2009, Australian Health Workforce Ministerial Council approved the inclusion of Chinese medicine practitioners (acupuncturists and Chinese herbal medicine practitioners) in the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme for the Health Professions from 1 July 2012. This is a welcome development which can only result in increased safety for the public and improved standards for the profession.
