I have a referral from a GP for a patient who is under Workcover. Is acupuncture recognised on this scheme?
It depends on the state in which you practice. If you practice in Victoria, you must first register as an Allied Health practitioner with WorkSafe Victoria. Go to www.worksafe.vic.gov.au or call 1800 136 089 for more details.

At this stage, if you practice in any other state (aside from Victoria) you can not register as a provider of acupuncture services with the state authority for workers compensation. In some cases, with pre-approval from the relevant workers compensation authority in your state, you may be able to provide treatment that will be covered by them. It is best not to assume that you will be covered and to always check with the relevant authority first. Please see below for a list of contact details:
